|The National Association of Insurance Commissioners ("NAIC") recently developed "OPTins" (Online Premium Tax for Insurance) to facilitate premium tax form submissions and payments. The Arizona Department of Insurance ("ADOI") is now accepting installment tax payments through the OPTins system and will soon accept annual insurance premium tax filings and payments through the system. You may also continue to submit tax reports and tax payments through the mail.
Using OPTins is very simple and requires no formal training. For installment payments, you just log in, select the correct installment period and submit your payment online. To submit an annual tax report, you will complete an online tax report on forms provided to you once you log into OPTins. Immediately after you complete your transaction, you will receive a confirmation and the ADOI will receive your completed premium tax forms and payments.
Using OPTins saves you time and ensures that your tax forms and payment are received together and on time. Before you can use OPTins, you must establish an account and implement Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) with the NAIC. This process can take up to two weeks. The ADOI plans to discontinue its ACH credit payment option. OPTins will be the only way to electronically pay your taxes starting January 1, 2009.
