Relocate to Arizona

  1. Report your change of address within 30 days after you move. ARS § 20-286(C).
  2. Follow the procedures established by the insurance department in your previous home state to cancel your license and to obtain a clearance letter (an official document from your previous home state that shows you were licensed in good standing at the time you canceled your license in that state).
  3. Apply for an Arizona license (click here for application options and requirements) within 90 days after relocating to Arizona and within 90 days after clearing your previous home state license. If you are currently licensed in Arizona as a non-resident, you may continue to act under a current (not expired) Arizona non-resident license for up to 90 days after relocating to Arizona [per ARS § 20-285(F)].

    NOTE: You must fulfill the same license requirements as an unlicensed person EXCEPT you will not have to pass an Arizona insurance exam IF

    • You held license lines of authority in your previous home state that Arizona issues to Arizona residents, AND
    • We receive your license application, fees and other required materials within 90 days after you clear your previous home state license.
