The Arizona Department of Administration, after conducting a competitive request for proposals process, has awarded a contract for Insurance Pre-license Testing Services to the Insurance Testing Corporation (ITC) of St. Paul, MN. ITC has administered insurance examinations in Arizona since 1992 and administers insurance license tests in 15 other states.

"ITC has consistently provided excellent service, not only to the Department of Insurance, but to insurance license candidates," said Scott Greenberg, Insurance Department Business Administrator.

The Department of Insurance, in conjunction with ITC and the Kelley Insurance Center at Drake University, will conduct a public meeting June 4, 1997, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel at Koll Center, 2620 West Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85021 (602-943-8200). The meeting will provide trainers, managers, industry representatives and publishers with information concerning Arizona’s insurance license testing program, candidate performance and newly enacted legislation affecting license applicants. In early August, ITC will offer a new Licensing Information Bulletin reflecting changes for Arizona candidates pertaining to exams on or after October 1, 1997. Any license candidate planning to take a test October 1, 1997 or later should obtain a copy of the new Bulletin from ITC. The Bulletin contains test content outlines, forms, and information on registering and scheduling examinations with ITC. Candidates can obtain a copy of the existing or new Bulletin by calling ITC at 800-853-5448. Portions of the Bulletin can be found on ITC’s home page on the World Wide Web at http://www.i-t-c.com, or through a link from the Arizona Department of Insurance web page at http://www.state.az.us/id.

Over the past two years, the Department of Insurance has worked vigorously to improve its customer service to license applicants. In October 1995, the Department implemented an "On-the-spot Licensing Program" that enables most applicants who visit the Licensing Section in person to have their applications reviewed in about 30 minutes. The Department has also improved license application forms and instructions. The Department expects to make licensing-related information available on its Internet website by May 5th.
