Designated Responsible Producer (DRP)

DEFINITION

A designated responsible producer (DRP) is an insurance producer that a business-entity producer designates as being responsible for the business entity's compliance with Arizona's insurance laws. ARS §§ 20-281(2), 20-285(C)(3). The Arizona Department of Insurance may initiate administrative action (such as imposition of civil penalties, require restitution, order license suspension or revocation, etc.) against a DRP for a business entity's failure to comply with Arizona insurance laws. ARS §§ 20-295(B). A business entity must report a change to the producer designated to be the DRP within 30 days of the change. ARS §§ 20-286(C)(2).
